Elegant, classical, sophisticated - those are the words that
describe our corbels perfectly. Decorative corbels are the finishing touches
that let us feel classical greatness and festive majestic beauty.
Designers use corbels to add a visual definition to a space and soften
sharp edges of today's architecture.
There are a lot of ways to integrate corbels into
interior. Corbels can be used as an independent decorative element. You may
place the corbels symmetrically on each side of a doorway and use their
surface as a small shelf. Placing a plant, candle or any other small
decorative objects on the top of the corbels could be enough to add
personality to a room. Even simplest everyday things, if placed on a top of
the corbels, suddenly obtaining more important, valuable look.
Corbels will dress up and add extra
support to bookshelves, fireplace mantel shelves, bars, kitchen countertops or any ledges.
There are a lot of corbels designed specifically for this purpose. Supportive
corbels and wood brackets (for additional countertop support) are usually much deeper
than wood corbels designed for decoration only. Boston corbels and
Los-Angeles counter corbels are grate example of clean line corbels that are perfect for an
additional support for kitchen counter or a bar shelf.

Traditional corbel's design makes it easy to incorporate them into any decorative scheme. If
you want corbels that will serve a double duty - be decorative and provide an
extra support - we have selection just for you. Check out our beautiful
Modesto corbels with grape design or
Arlington corbels with flower
motif.

The simple and graceful lines of corbels are very appealing. Open-side
design gives corbels a light and airy appearance, delightful carving on the
front of the corbels is not overpowering - just enough to add some decorative
details and express your personality. Corbels for counter and kitchen
island support have an ergonomic design, they curve-in allowing knee room for
comfortable setting - counter brackets.

Originally corbels were a necessary structural elements, they were
build or fixed into the wall and ceiling to provide the necessary support for a beam, arch or
other architectural components. But the artful expression and human longing for beauty turned
these functional structural elements into the majestic architectural detail of today.

The long history of corbels brought alive many opulent designs. As
fashion for richly embellished walls and ceilings began to dominate the house
interior, the sculptural aspects of the corbels were emphasized. The overall
shape of carved wood corbels became more graceful, the details carved in a deeper relief and
the practicality of corbels were no longer a first priority. While the functional
use of corbels was to provide support to structures while remaining true to the
aesthetic of the room, wood corbels are now more often used as decorative
accents. They can be placed virtually anywhere in a room. Corbels are available in different styles, shapes, and sizes, giving you the opportunity
of self expression, opening an avenue through which you can infuse some of your own personality into your interior design.
Corbels can be manufactured from different materials. At InvitingHome.com you'll find

are made from furniture grade polyurethane. From high quality corbels for
kitchen countertops to stylish carved wood
shelf brackets,

So, if our hardwood corbels are so great, why should you consider a polyurethane corbels? It is all about the
look you are after and the benefits of the material. If you want the rich look of wood - wooden corbels is your choice for you. If on other hand you
like the look of plaster - polyurethane corbels should be your choice. Professionals agree that polyurethane is today's optimal alternative to
traditional plaster (both in price and quality). Polyurethane is a very durable material and is tolerant to temperature changes. Polyurethane does
not absorbs moister or fumes which makes this product irreplaceable for places with high level of humidity (bathrooms, kitchens etc.). Moreover,
polyurethane corbels are perfect for installation on your walls, because of the products flexibility and installation methods. So, if your walls are not
perfectly straight polyurethane corbels can take a slight bend. Click on following link to see an examples of creative incorporation in interior design with

Wooden corbels are timeless classics, no traditional home should be without
them. For centuries master carvers created magnificent carved wood corbels
with impressive designs. Most of the patterns for wooden corbels were inspired
by nature, with its marvelous forms and vivid lines. Lively vineyards, rich
grape clusters, opulent shells, graceful leaves, and playful flowers were an
endless source of inspiration.

Some of the most popular corbels designs are based on compositions
with acanthus or palmate leaf. As an example, Maryland pilaster corbels
and Austin corbels with acanthus leaf design. This carved details are deriving from ancient
Greek designs.
During the revival of ancient architectural ornamentation
inspired by nature in a past few centuries, carved wood corbels and brackets
were no exception to its application. Anthemion leaf ornamentation is very
popular corbels embellishment. When extended vertically, anthemion leaf ornament
has very soft and regular appearance. In contrast to anthemion ornament,
acanthus corbels design has more vigorous, dynamic, and exuberant
appearance, intensifying the contrast between smooth surface and texture on the overall corbels and brackets design.
Classical carved wood ornamentation based on thick, luxuriant,
scalloped leaves of acanthus plant featured on our Huston corbels and
Portland corbels decorated a myriad of architectural
components including corbels and decorative brackets. Acanthus ornamentation
provides sumptuous visual interest for the controlled yet graceful curves of wooden corbels.
